L’ Amore in città  (episodio “Storia di Caterina”)

The re-enactment of a news story by a young woman playing her own role. Caterina Rigoglioso, who had come to Rome to find work, is rejected by her family and the father of her child. She ends up jobless, homeless, without papers and, too poor to care for her toddler, she abandons him. Shot in a direct style that portends the cinéma vérité, the film seems to mark the apogee and end of neorealism.
